The end of Daylight Saving Time is right around the corner. With it comes the body’s inability to fall asleep at your normal bedtime hours. • Focus On: Melatonin

What it is: Melatonin is a hormone made in a small gland in the brain called the pineal gland that helps regulate your sleep and wake cycles. The body naturally makes a small amount of melatonin, but levels seem to drop slowly with age. Levels begin to increase in mid-to-late evening and drop in the early hours of the morning.

The study by researchers at Cancer Treatment Centers of America looked at 50 pancreatic cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. All were taking pain medication, but 36 also took green tea extract, melatonin, and multivitamins.
