Soyfoods Provide High Quality Protein for Energetic Kids

The Soyfoods Association of North America (SANA) recognizes the importance of creating healthier food and lunch options for children, and wants to help parents get their kids moving and enjoying power packed soyfoods.  

If keeping your child active and healthy is a priority then offer your children soyfoods as alternative snacks and meal options. Soyfoods provide a plant-based protein comparable to beef, milk, eggs and fish and is low is saturated fats and cholesterol free. Studies show eating soyfoods at an early age may help protect against some diseases later in life for example:

-Soyfoods may help protect against breast cancer when girls start eating soyfoods before or during adolescence.

-Soyfoods may help children ease constipation, maintain a healthy weight, and boost athletic performance.

Food and nutrition expert Rebecca Scritchfield, MA, RD, ACSM HFS encourages parents to serve   nutrient rich and calorie wise soyfoods as dinner and snack options for regaining energy after an active day. "Soy veggie tacos could be a quick and healthy dinner for families. Low-fat soymilk is a nourishing recovery drink after sports for your 'all-star' in training," said Scritchfield.

To help parents, the Soyfoods Association of North America is releasing its latest educational video, The Benefits of Soyfoods for Energetic Kids , where Scritchfield advises parents on how to implement healthy soyfoods, snack and recipe tips.
