National Women’s Survivors Convention Announces More Guest Speakers
Karen Shayne, founder and executive director of the National Women’s Survivors Convention today announced that Ruth Bachman and Dr. Sandy Goldberg will join the lineup of speakers and talent participating in the inaugural event. Set for August 22-24, 2013 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort here, the first of its kind national event is designed to celebrate women cancer survivors. Bachman will be a breakout session leader, while Goldberg is a keynote speaker and session leader. Both women have first hand experience with cancer and turned their respective battles and ultimate survival into foundations designed to help others.
The agenda for NWSC is being created by women cancer survivors for women cancer survivors and will place the high notes on entertaining the attendees, while also offering educational and informative breakout sessions and keynote speakers, according to Shayne. The event is expected to attract as many as 3,700 survivors and their primary caregivers.“Ruth Bachman is a very warm, engaging, giving and beautiful survivor who took the challenge of being diagnosed with a very rare cancer and turned it into a mission of empowerment,” Shayne said. “Dr. Sandy Goldberg is a very passionate woman whose mission for providing quality cancer education and cost free mammograms gives hope to so many uninsured women all across America. She took her own misdiagnosis experience and turned it into a motivation and then into a movement. I love what both of these amazing women represent and we are honored to have them at NWSC to show what a cancer survivor can do with not only self-empowerment, but self-advocacy.”
With “Take Charge” as its theme, the NWSC plans to do just that with a schedule focused on high energy and heavy on the fun and festive, while also being informative via a series of guest speakers who are authorities on cancer and on the front lines each day. In addition to the special guest speakers, the three-day event will showcase renowned experts from the worlds of fashion, food, finance, fitness and health, who will help place the emphasis on the celebratory aspect of the convention. A special seminar track will be geared for younger survivors and sponsored by Women Rock For The Cure.
