Researchers have long known that tea helps the heart. The problem is, you have to drink so much your teeth float. But now a study points the way to a pill that may deliver up to 35 cups in a single dose. Scientists gave 240 adults with mild to moderately high cholesterol either a placebo or an extract containing theaflavin, one of the flavonoids found in green and black tea. (The dose is equivalent to seven cups of black tea or 35 of green.) After 12 weeks, only the theaflavin group’s LDL cholesterol dropped. So at your next tea party, give each guest a supplement, too.
