Laughter is the Best Medicine
A recent trend in relaxation borders the hilarious; it’s laughter meditation, and it’s rising in popularity.
Laughter meditation forces you into the present moment, transcending minor stresses created by everyday life. This form of meditation is no joke; there are three stages to progress into a meditative state, each lasting between five and 20 minutes. The first stage involves stretching from your hands to your feet, yawning, and stretching your face, too. The second stage includes laughter—try to imagine a funny situation, an old joke, or anything that makes you want to laugh—and don’t stifle it, either! The third and final stage involves stillness and silence with a focus on your breathing.
In addition to bringing you into the present, laughter just simply feels good.
