Eat Your Way to Beautiful Skin!

By January Olds

Not only is a skin care regimen important for achieving a healthy complexion, but the foods we eat are also an important factor in creating healthy, glowing skin. There are certain foods that contain nutrients and vitamins to keep skin looking young and blemish-free.

One way to consume many of these healthy foods is by trying my tonic recipe. Using a juicer, blend together two cucumbers, four stalks of celery, and one apple to start eating your way to healthy skin. To ensure maximum benefit, make sure that these fruits and vegetables are all organic. Enjoy!

>> Cucumbers can decrease the appearance of blemishes like pimples and blackheads.

>> Celery is also a healthy food that provides benefits for skin. Because celery is alkalizing, it equalizes the body’s pH, which is necessary for great healthy skin.

>> Quercetin, found in apples, is an antioxidant that improves the body’s defenses against inflammation and cell damage, the two leading causes of aging.

>> Yogurt is a great source of vitamin A, which improves the immune system and can in turn improve skin health.

>> Almonds will keep skin looking young by using “good fats” to keep cell membranes intact.

>> Natural Green Tea, not the kind that comes in a bottle with added sugar, will help prevent inflammation of the skin.

>> Blueberries contain the most antioxidants per serving. These antioxidants will fight off pollutants and toxins to ensure clear skin.
