In the largest randomized study on acupuncture and chronic pain, the therapy proved remarkably helpful for headache sufferers.
Those who received needle therapy along with standard treatment for one year had 22 fewer days with headaches, used 15 percent less medication, made 25 percent fewer trips to the doctor, and took 15 percent fewer sick days than patients who didn’t get acupuncture. These benefits were long- lasting, too. Though most of the volunteers only had acupuncture during the first three months of the study, the relief continued throughout the year.
Still afraid of needles? Get over it.
