When you’re feeling frazzled and there’s no time for yoga, reach for bilberry. New research in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry says that bilberry extract reduces stress in mice and may offer similar results in humans. According to Lauri Grossman, a naturopath in New York City, bilberry extract contains powerful antioxidants that protect the body from stress-induced free-radical damage. Grossman recommends 240 to 480 mg of bilberry extract daily in divided doses.
