As word gets out about the dangers of parabens—a class of toxic preservatives considered an endocrine disruptor—more and more natural skincare companies have worked hard to remove them from their formulas. In recent months, many beauty companies have reformulated their products and proudly pronounced them paraben-free. “We decided to eliminate them on the basis of recently produced scientific reports showing that the estrogenic activity of parabens may be linked to the development of breast cancers,” says Bernard Guerra, president of Tact Beauty Care.
MOP, (modern organic products), recently launched a new line called C-straight that contains no parabens and proclaimed that all its future products will follow suit; Zia Natural Skincare removed parabens from many of it lines this summer; Annemarie Borlind is currently removing parabens from almost all of its products; and Dollface started its paraben purge in June.
