Health Tips: Cool Weather Workouts? Dress for Success

Many people new to exercising in cold weather dress in bulky and overly warm winter jackets. Instead opt for three layers once the mercury dips: For the base layer (next to the skin) choose a thin wicking material like polypropylene. (No cotton please!) Next comes the insulating layer, a good fleece or wool, loose enough to trap air between layers but not restrictive. Last comes the protective layer, a shell to keep out wind, rain, and snow. Zip them open as you heat up. And don’t forget a pair of gloves and a stocking hat to top it off.
