Health News: Hungry Astronaut? Fire up the 3D printer!

Believe it or not, one of the biggest technical obstacles to sending humans to Mars is how to feed them en route. NASA has granted $125,000 to Systems and Materials Research Corporation to develop a 3D printer that will print real food. A pizza could be printed from powdered ingredients including oil, water, a dough mix, tomato, and a protein mix. Though still conceptual, Systems and Materials Research hopes to have a working model by the end of 2013.
