Lavender has been known for quite some time to calm nerves, restore balance, and promote rest. That is why it’s commonly used in linen sprays, potpourri, perfumes, and oils. But now a clinically-studied lavender oil supplement has been discovered as a safe, non-habit-forming way to help you feel more relaxed and stay productive. A placebo-controlled study found that an orally administered lavender oil supplement like Nature’s Way CalmAid might be as effective as some common interventions in managing mild anxiety symptoms.

The results of one study, published in Wolters Kluwer Health, said that lavender oil administered orally is both effective and safe for relief of anxiety disorders. It showed the ability to alleviate anxiety related to disturbances of sleep while improving the physical and mental well-being. Daniel Brown, DO, a leading authority on evidence-based natural medicines, says that this new supplement “helps relieve infrequent symptoms of tension, stress, and anxiety including occasional restlessness, nervousness, and sleeplessness.”
